When I started the “Elements 2″ cd I went nuts.I was trying to find a use for every guitar I own.I ended up using only five,or six guitars.I used my Ibanez RG 7420 seven string for all of the low end rythyms. The first song is called “Monster”.There’s an awful lot of seven string guitar on that tune.I also used an Ibanez Jem guitar for the high end rythyms just to fatten up the rythym tracks. For clean tones I used my Fender Strat Plus,I like this guitar because it has a nice twangy sound,Kind of country,Yee Haaaa.
For the solos I used two Ibanez RG 320 guitars. They both had the locking tremolo thing on them.Although I did not use a whammy bar a whole lot on this cd,it was nice to have it there.I have a tendency to hit wrong notes, and just go for the whammy bar. There is one short song called”My Place In The World” where I used my Ibanez “Les Paul” copy with my “Buckethead”kill switch in it.That guitar had a real nice clean sound using the Neck pickup.I did not use the Kill switch as much as I had planned too.The kill switch was installed by my friend C.B. at Rockit music in Brea California. All guitars used went into a Morley Wah Bad Horsie straight into my Marshall JMP1 preamp.I added the effects last.
For playing live I am not sure what stuff i am going to use.Right now I use Rocktron Chameleon preamps, and a Rocktron velocity poweramp through my Marshall Cabs.It sounds really good.I am not sure which guitars to use. There’s so many cool ones out this year.I know I’m going to get a couple of new ones.I saw that Ibanez is bringing back the RG 550 to celebrate their 20th year.I read on the net that it would be a limited run, hopefully I’ll run into one of those guitars and purchase one.
In the studio

I’m pulling out all the junk for production on my follow up CD to “Elements”.I’m going to use my Seven String Ibanez on alot of the CD.,I did the demos with it.I have to say that guitar is awesome.I’m also using my Ibanez Les Paul copy. When I recorded the demos I overplayed a lot,and used way too much compression.I had a friend of mine listen to it.He pointed out the things that were wrong with it.I told him they were demos. Now this time I have a better idea of what I’m going to do.

I have been using Ibanez guitars for 10 years. They are pretty durable when I was playing shows with the band. They sound great in the studio. They all have the Floyd Rose Licenced Tremolo systems.I set the action as low as I can without the nasty buzz.I also play the 7 strings a lot too.But I recently aquired 2 other Ibanez guitars. One is a white RG321 with no tremolo.Just a fixed bridge.I call that the stripper guitar because Henry(Jacobs Ladder Drummer)and I bought a bunch of stickers and stuck them on the guitar. It’s a cool guitar it’s pretty much my main one.The other is an Ibanez Les Paul copy.I was amazed to find this one.It looks like a real Gibson Les Paul Cherry Sunburst.I had some mdifications done to it.I put a Kill Switch on it,and moved the selector switch to where the four knobs are located. Now there are only 2 knobs,my selector switch, and my Kill Switch.I saw Buckethead at a concert and he had this modification on the All White Gibson Les Paul he was using. You could say I copied him,I thought it sounded really cool, and I had to have done on my guitar.
My amplifiers haven’t changed much.I still have the same stuff but I don’t use as much when I play live or in rehearsal.Right now I’m pretty set with my Rocktron Chameleon preamp, and Rocktron poweramp through my Marshall Cabinets. It’s got effects that are good enough.I also use my Moreley Bad Horsie wah pedal also.In the studio I use My Marshall JMP1 preamp for just about everything, and once inawhile I will use a Johnson Millenium J-Station.
I’m not sure what the new hot gear is now but their are some items I am looking into buying.I like Suhr guitars,Tom Anderson guitars, and ESP guitars.Every amp out there is pretty cool. There are some pedals from Boss, and Fultone that are really neat.I am probably going to get the George Lynch Tripler pedal from Morley.
