George Lynch

Last night I got to see one of my all time favorite guitarists perform at Sam Ash in Ontario Ca.I will say this George Lynch is a guitar God.His playing continues to amaze me.It’s amazing how he utililizes the entire fingerboard. His aproach to the guitar is unique, and this is why he has amazing tone. His sound was very clean, but he still has the Mr.Scary tone going on.He brought his ESP Tiger striped guitar that he has had since the late 70′s or early 80′s.He also played his new “Super V” guitar.I was a little
unsure about the “V” guitars because I am more used to “Strat” shaped guitars,or Ibanez RG guitars.I thought the “V”guitars seemed small. That was all a figment of my imagination.I tried the George Lynch “Super V”and I thought it was a really awesome guitar.I also liked the Ibanez V,and the ESP V as well.George also had played through his signature amp the”Lynch Box”.This amp is manufactured by “Randall amps”.I could go on and on for days about what a great guitar player, and songwriter George Lynch is.We all know it’s a fact.So I am going to mention something else about George. He is one of the most down to earth, nicest guys on the planet.I have heard people say negative things about him,and I have read some negative things about him.I have met him a bunch of times, and I have most of his cds,8×10 photos, and other George Lynch merchandise signed by him.He also talks to his fans.He cares about his fans a lot.One fan asked him to play a part from “Mr. Scary”.George and his band played the entire song, and George turned his body to face that specific fan who requested that song.I think George made that fans day,he probably made his week.He also answered some questions that people asked him,and he talked about the music industry a little. He signed autographs later that night.I’m glad I had the chance to see him play, and I hope all of you reading this get the chance to see him play and meet him too. He’s one of the greatest guitar players, and one of the greatest human beings I have ever met.For those of you who would like to learn more information on George’s playing, guitars, gear, his guitar Dojo,or just want to know where he’s playing next,Please check out the links below.

Paul Gilbert

I have been a Paul Gilbert fan for a long time.I think he’s one of the most amazing guitarists i have ever seen.I really like his solo cds a lot.I just got his new instrumental cd “Get out of My Yard”.I hope he does more instrumental cds. This cd is awesome. There is a song called “The Echo Song.” I dig the way he used the echo sounds. The song has kind of a techno feel.I really though that was cool.I think the whole cd is awesome, and for all you guitar fanatics this is a cd worth checking out.

I got to see the Buckethead concert  at the House Of Blues this past weekend.I thought it was one of the best shows I have ever been too.I thought the Michael Myers costume was awesome.Buckethead is one of my all time favorite guitarists. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy was the moshing and shoving towards the end of the show.I thought that was uncool. There were a lot of people who are a little smaller getting shoved around some of them were kids with their parents.I think the moshers need to consider other people who want to enjoy the music, without getting hurt.I saw people getting shoved in the back and tripping.I didn’t think thats really cool. But all that aside Buckethead put on probably the best show I’ve seen in a long time.

I’ve been listening to Joe Satriani since junior high school. His playing made me want to record instrumental cds.I’ve seen him at G3 shows, and with Dream Theatre(also one of my favorite bands.)Joe Satriani has a guitar tone that just sings to you. I have all his CDs as well.I met him at the Namm show, and I have to say he is one of the coolest people on the planet.Right now as I write this Blog,I am listening to some of his tunes.Joe Satriani is definitely one of the greatest guitarists.

Buckethead is one of my favorite guitarists as well.I like the fact that he can mix it up by releasing CDs such as “Giant Robot”,and “Colma”.I got to see him play live, and I have to say It was one of the best concerts I have ever been too.I have most of his CDs.Some are hard to find, but I keep looking.Wouldn’t it be cool to get guitar lessons from him?

Steve Vai

by on Aug.29, 2006, under Steve Vai

Every Kid I knew growing up had role models or heros. Some had Michael Jordan, others had Wayne Gretzky, and so on,and so on.Growing up dealing with going to a new junior high school trying to fit in with everyone, and my parents getting a divorce it was pretty tough for an 11 year old.I wasn’t that much into sports, and I couldn’t relate to much of what other kids were doing. Then one day after school I came home and watched MTV.There it was,a defining moment that would change the rest of my life.I already knew how to play guitar a little bit.But I never really took it seriously until that day. There was a video from David Lee Roth.It was for the song Yankee Rose. And even though it was just a video for most people,it made me make a huge decision.I wanted to play guitar more than ever.It seemed like fitting in with other kids, and the problems an 11 year old had didn’t matter too much to me.I had to learn everything about Steve Vai’s playing.Eventually I learned parts of his songs, and it made me practice a lot.In my teens it was still all about Steve Vai,and now it still is.

I got to meet him and get my picture taken with him at the Namm Show in 1995.He was the coolest guy you could meet.He signed every autograph for his fans.I saw him play a bunch of times, and was blown away everytime. He always captured his audience. If it wasn’t for Steve Vai I would not be where I am today.

Greg Howe

by on Aug.29, 2006, under Greg Howe

I had the chance to take a lesson with Greg Howe who is one of my favorite guitar players on the planet.I was really nervous,no I was scared to death. It was last March,I was waiting for my lesson. It was at the Tone Center in Anaheim Ca.I brought my Ibanez Jem guitar with me.When it was time for my lesson I walked into his studio room.I got to plug into a Cornford amplifier and warm up with Greg.I admitted to him I was a little Star struck. He showed me arppeggios and scales and how to take them apart, and then we jammed.I even played a little lead guitar. When he took the solo it was amazing. The lesson helped me with my playing a lot.If anyone wants to check out Greg Howe log on to www.greghowe.com I believe he will have online lessons soon.I think it’s great that he’s sharing his knowledge of the instrument.I admitted to ripping off a lot of his style in my playing(not borrowing, ripping off!)Greg is such a big influence, and if anyone has the chance check out his CDs.I have them all.My personal favorites are Paralax,Ascend, and his self titled disk.Check him out.
